My week in Salt Lake

I am loving these flight benefits that we get. Last week me and the boys flew up to Salt Lake for the week. I mainly went for Liesl's wedding. Liesl has been one of my best friends since we were 15 and last Wednesday she got married. It was so fun to be there on her big day. Thanks to my mom and sister, I was able to attend the ceremony and the luncheon while they babysat the kids for me. Not only did I get to be there for her wedding day but I got to see some old roommates and that was so fun.On Thursday we went to the zoo with my sister, Jessica. Nathan had a lot of fun seeing the animals and Blake just hung out in his stroller. The kids didn't last too long so we will have to go back another time to catch the other animals. It was fun hanging out with Jess!

Swimming

It's getting pretty hot here in St. George and we are quickly learning that the only thing to do outside is go swimming. Everything else is just too hot to do. Nathan still loves the park so we have gone a few times at 8:30 in the morning so the slides aren't too hot and I can stand to be out there with him. But mostly, we like to swim.
We have a pool here where we live that we go to a lot but today, we went swimming at Wes's aunt's house. She just had a pool put in her back yard and it is awesome! We all had a blast. Here are a few pics of our day swimming.

A night out

For Christmas, Wes gave me some homemade coupons to use so last night I cashed in on a few of them. One said, "a night off of dinner, I will come up with the idea and make dinner" and another one said, "a night to yourself. I will take the boys and you can do whatever you want".

So, Wes made dinner - BBQ chicken with a few sides and he watched the kids while I went out and got my hair cut and styled. It was a nice, much needed, break. Thanks Wes for taking over for the night.

I had the lady straighten my hair. Here is a picture to show you my hair. Blake was being so cute and happy so he joined me in the pic :)

Baby Food

Well, Blake is a little over 5 months old now. I can't believe how fast he is growing. He is a very smiley baby. He LOVES his brother, Nathan. He loves to watch him and I think he is getting excited to be able to play with Nathan soon.
I have been debating on when to start giving him food. I was going to wait until 6 months (which is only 3 weeks away) but I decided to start on the cereal now. Today when I gave him cereal, he was so excited about it and ate about 2 Tbsp.
I love this stage. I think it's fun to feed them real food. I'm especially excited to make all his baby food. With Nathan, I didn't buy one jar of baby food. Not that I think store bought baby food is bad, I was just on a very tight budget so I learned how to do it all myself. I thought it was so fun and easy so I've decided to do it again. I hope that Blake will be a good eater just like his brother.

Family Pictures

My brother-in-law, Brandon, took some family pictures of us this last weekend. Here are a few of my favorites. (We learned that it is pretty difficult to get the two kids to look and smile at the same time)

Feeling a little crafty

A few weeks ago I wanted to make a car seat cover so I looked it up online and found some instructions and then I made a couple. One for me and one for my sister-in-law. I think this was my first sewing project ever where I didn't have my mom's help. Here is the skirt I just made.
And the necklace. My first attempt at making jewelry like this. Not bad. I'm pretty happy with my recent accomplishments :)

Fun in the kitchen

I heard some noise in the kitchen and when I went to investigate, this is what I found.

Who needs building blocks when you have jars of peanut butter?
