Wes and I were talking the other day about the people we know here in Pocatello. Because of our jobs, Wes has gotten to know a lot of the political leaders and law enforcement and such and I've gotten to know various business owners and managers of local places. So here is a story about knowing one of those business owners.
Clayne owns Taco Time here on Yellowstone Ave and he comes in to the bank to make his deposits so I've gotten to know him. Wes drives down Yellowstone every day to get to work. Clayne likes to put quotes and jokes on his marque outside his store and I mentioned to Clayne one day that my husband always reads the sign and he always lets me know when the sign changes or when he thinks the jokes are funny. I was asking Clayne if he was the one that did this and came up with the sayings. He said, yes, he was and he said to tell Wes to come in and buy some food instead of just drive by everyday and read the sign. He asked me what my husbands names was so I told him. This conversation took place a few weeks ago and yesterday Wes drove down Yellowstone and this is what he saw:



Clayne said he would put something on the sign for Wes but I didn't really think he was serious! Now everyone in Pocatello driving down Yellowstone will see Wes' name at Taco Time.
So Wes and I went and bought dinner there last night and took a picture by the sign.

Diapers

I am thinking of stocking up on some diapers while I am still working and have a paycheck.
What kind of diapers do you think are the best? Do you like one brand over another?

Old Friends

This last weekend I met up with some friends from high school. It's been a long time since I've seen a lot of them. They all came to Lava for their traditional yearly vacation and since I live only 30 miles away, I joined them one night for dinner. It was so much fun to see them!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WES!!

Today is Wes' birthday!
We both had the day off we got to go play! My younger brother, Stuart, is here visiting for a few days so we all got to play.
We got up and Wes opened presents, then we had a big breakfast, got ready and then we went to Lava Hot Springs! We just went to the water park there and played for a few hours.
I managed to squeeze into a bathing suit and go swimming but I didn't go down any of the fun slides or jump off the diving boards but I did have fun taking pictures of the boys doing that.
We had steaks for dinner at Wes' request and now we are about to make homemade ice cream! Another favorite of ours.

Take your spouse to work day

I felt like a fascinated little girl that got to go to work with her dad on "take your child to work" day, Only I was with Wes and it wasn't really take anyone to work day.
On weekends I usually take Wes lunch while he is at work so this past Saturday he called me around 12 and I took him his little sack lunch that I made him. He said he was about to leave to go out to Massacre State Park. I had never been there so I wanted to tag along. It was a birthday celebration or something of State Parks so they were serving cake and ice cream. It's about 20 minutes out of town so we got in the car to head out there. Right before we left, Wes got a call about a car wash fund raiser thing going on in town so we stopped there first to do a story on that and then drove out to the state park and back. It was fun to see Wes working. He had his camera all set up and was interviewing people and then that night I got to see it all on the news. It was a fun day watching how the news is put together.
If I would've known I was going to go out with Wes I would've brought my camera but I didn't so no pictures of him working....maybe next time.

Can't Sleep

I know everyone says, "just wait" when the baby comes you won't have any sleep at all, you'll be up all night long, you'll walk around like a zombie just wishing you could get an hour or two of sleep. I've heard that a lot, and I'm expecting it. But I guess I just wasn't prepared for the lack of sleep before he even gets here.
I'm a little over 8 months along, I have about 6 weeks left and I feel huge. Sleeping has become very very difficult.
First of all, it's hot. It's summer. No matter what I do, I'm hot at night. I finally convinced Wes to let us turn the air on at night (usually we would just open a window and call it good) and we have a fan that blows right on us all night long. Usually that works enough for me to fall asleep.
Now, I like to sleep on my back a lot. Every book and anything I've read on being pregnant says not to do that. Sometimes I end up on my back anyway but I soon wake up because I can't breathe very well. So I flip to one side or the other. That usually works for a little while. At some point in the night I will wake up with heartburn. No matter what I eat for dinner, or what time I eat it, or what position I am laying in, I get heartburn in the middle of the night. I have a stash of Tums next to my bed for just that. If I can stay asleep through the heartburn and the heat and not being able to breathe laying on my back, I will wake up because my back hurts. It is sore all the time! I read somewhere and people keep telling me to sleep with a pillow in between your legs so I've been trying that lately. Now we have a queen size bed, which has always worked fine for us. Wes is 6' 7" so he takes up a good portion of the bed. Now add me, with my giant tummy and things have gotten tight. So when I try to throw another pillow in there to put in between my legs, things are even tighter. Not to mention when I try to change positions and flip over, that's hard enough with a big tummy but then add a pillow in there, and Wes with his long legs that take up most of the bed anyway, well, let's just say that I'm awake most of the night. That is why it's 5:30 am on a saturday and I am up writing a blog post about how I can't sleep anymore.

4th of July Weekend

Okay, I know this is a week late but I thought I would post about our 4th.
First of all, Wes' family came up for the weekend. Pam, Brandon, Aubrie & Andrew and their daughter Danika. We had a lot of people in our small little townhouse but we had a lot of fun.
Pam and Aub & Andrew came Thursday night. We ate some food, played a few games and then went to bed. Brandon joined us on Friday at which time we decided to go on a "hike". So we looked on our little trail map and we found a nice little paved trail with a park at the end. We packed lunches and water and got in the car and headed to our trail. It was a nice little paved trail that went along the side of the road, then led to Sacajawea Park. As it turns out, when
we got to Sacajawea park, it was a trailer park next to a giant field full of weeks with a small picnic table and an outhouse. (We later found out that the "park" was under renovations and the city is now making it much nicer, like putting grass in instead of weeds)
After our fun lunch, we headed back and watched Pam learn how to roller blade. Good times.
We came back, had a big BB-Q, opened presents for Brandon's and Wes' birthday's, made the traditional homemade ice cream, and then went and watched the fireworks. All in all, It was a good, fun weekend. We sure do miss our families and we were glad that Wes' family could come join us for a weekend. Here are some pictures from our "hike".
