Cardboard boxes

You know how you always hear people say "I got my kid such and such for Christmas but they had more fun with the box it came in...we should've just gotten them a box!"
Well, that's exactly what we did this year. Yep...we gave our kids cardboard boxes. We got the idea from this website and just went from there. I have to give Wes most of the credit on these because he did most of the work while I was finishing up some other Christmas gifts.
Here they are...an Airplane and a Firetruck. We just used some leftover spray paint we had and found random things we had around the house to add all the details.
This is where they were Christmas morning.

Here is the firetruck (the hat came from the dollar store)
Here is the inside of the airplane. Nathan loves to pretend like he's pushing buttons to open doors or go up an elevator (in my walk-in-closet) so we knew he would love these. A few of those buttons spin.
This is a little blurry but it's Blake getting in :)

We made them big enough for both of them to sit in them together because they love to do everything the same.
Playing in the firetruck :)

At one point the wing on the airplane got a little bent, so Nathan got some things and "fixed" it.

I thought it was hilarious. What a smart little kid...fixing the wing. The belt is from the airplane. We got 2 old belts of mine and put them in the firetruck and airplane so they would have seat belts.
And there you have it. Our cardboard boxes. Didn't cost us anything and the boys are still playing with them more than anything else they got for Christmas. This might be a new tradition....until they get old enough to ask for things like electronics or something :)
