Canning

Let me tell you what I have been up to these last few weeks. Besides learning how to take care of a new baby and trying to figure out a new routine for life, I have been canning lots of fruit. Now I really feel like a mom.
Since Nathan has been born I have canned lots of peaches, pears, apple slices, apple sauce, pear sauce and salsa. My mom came and helped with some peaches and salsa right after Nathan was born. Then I went to Salt Lake to can pears with Aubrie 2 weeks ago and this last week Aubrie and Andrew came up here and helped with the apples and apple sauce. I am excited to have so much fruit, I am planning on using a lot of it for baby food and of course my favorite, cobbler for us. I have to say though that after all of that canning I am a little sick of it and ready to be done until next year.

Nathan's Blessing

Nathan was blessed in church today. We had lot's of family with us. Unfortunately not every family member could be with us today but we were grateful for the ones that drove the few hours to come today. After church we had lunch with everyone at our house and then we mingled for a few hours before everyone had to head home. It was a very nice day!

A Happy Day

Today is a good day for a few reasons-
I took a shower and got ready for the day! (okay, not until 3:00 but still)
I did a load of laundry
I took a nap
I cleaned the kitchen
and the biggest reason is I tried on a pair of my jeans and they fit!
They are a little snug but I still got them on and they fit me.
Goodbye maternity clothes!!

Also, I've been introduced this whole world of television. Really, I hate watching tv but now that I'm home, I turn it on in the mornings for noise and I feel so up to date because I watch the Today show and Regis and Kelly (NBC is one of the only channels that we get because we are too cheap to pay for cable) I usually turn it off after that but today I had it on at 2:00 and I watched the Bonnie Hunt show. She's pretty funny so I think I'll try and schedule feedings around 2:00 now :)

But seriously, I'm most excited about my jeans! :)

2 1/2 weeks

Well, it's been 2 1/2 weeks now since Nathan was born. We just do the same thing every day. I feed him, change his diaper, play with him for a few minutes then he falls asleep and we do it all over again when he wakes up. I usually sleep somewhere in there too.
My mom was here for the first week and then she came back for a few days the second week. She left last Friday and I cried. She was so great to have here. She cleaned, made dinners, took a shift at night so I could get some sleep, and she kept me company. I don't know what I would do without my mom!
My dad drove her up here and then came to pick her up so he could
see Nathan too. I've attached some pictures of Nathan with his
new Grandparents.

One Week

We made it one week today. Here is a quick summary of what we've done:
  • Nathan had his first bath
  • We've had lot's of visitors, Noel from my work, Grandma Horrocks, Brandon, Matt, Aubrie, Jessica, Grandpa Nelson, Stuart, and of course, my mom who stayed the week.
  • I've been Peed on 3 times, pooped on once, and spit up on regularly
  • Nathan loves to be awake at night and sleep during the day
  • Dad went back to work after taking a few days off.
  • I'm getting a little faster at walking up stairs
  • Nathan loves to suck on his hand

Those are some of the things from this last week. I'm sure there is more that I just can't remember from lack of sleep :)

Our New Arrival

It all started Thursday night when we went into the hospital. I was in labor for about 18 hours, all I remember was lots of pain but Wes has some good stories about how I reacted to some pain medication and such. About 2:00 Friday afternoon I was dilated to a 10 and ready to go but the baby's heart beat kept falling and the doctor said the baby was in distress and minutes later I was rushed into the O.R and I had a C-Section. It was a little traumatic but after all is said and done we are both fine and got to come home from the hospital today.
