Skirt

Wes took Nathan to the fathers and sons campout tonight so after I put Blake to bed (He'll get to go next year!) I pulled out my sewing machine.
Thanks to a friend (Thanks Lashel!) I saw this tutorial on how to make a skirt. I bought some fabric and tonight I made it!

Help

Okay friends. I'm trying to be crafty. Have you ever seen the walls in my house? They are bare! Nothing on them. Mostly because I am not the crafty/creative type. I would like to be though so my goal is to decorate. I think I could copy cute ideas if I saw them (but definitely can't come up with any on my own) So.... anyone have or know of any cute crafty blogs that I can look at to get some good ideas?? I'm sure there are tons out there, so let me know!
I'll share my crafty journey on here as I slowly decorate my house...slowly.
Today I've started with some picture frames and I am finally getting some of the family pictures printed that we had taken in October! Wish me luck!

Race day

I did it! I accomplished my goal that I had set, to run a half marathon. I never thought in my life that I would ever run a race like this so it feels really good to have done it. I'm not sure I want to run one again though :) I think I would really like a 10k or less...
I flew up to Salt Lake on Friday with my kids and when we got there we realized that we flew into winter. We have been in the 80's here in St. George and it was freezing in Salt Lake.
Saturday morning I woke up 5:00am to SNOW! I was not excited about running in this weather but I met up with my sister-in-law and her husband and we headed to Thanksgiving Point anyway. Once I got there and was standing in the large group of runners at the starting line, I got a little more excited and forgot about the cold (of course I had many, many layers on) The first half hour or so it snowed on us, but then it stopped and the sun came out for a little bit. It never got warm but the sunshine was nice.

I felt good for the first 6 miles, then I started to get a little tired. Around mile 8 or 9 we started getting into a lot of hills. Up and down, up and down. My knees started to hurt after all the hills started and then the last 3 miles took me a while because my body was done. But I kept going and I finished! I didn't have to walk as much as I thought but I did walk a little...especially on the hills. I finished in 2 hours and 49 minutes. Ya, I'm not a fast runner but I'm happy with my accomplishment and it feels good to have done it!

Here I am running to the finish line
Almost there....
Yay! I finished :)
Me and Aubrie (she finished 40 minutes before I did) Even though we didn't run the race together, it was fun to set this goal together and do it!

Both my parents, Wes and my boys, and Wes's mom were all there at the finish line. We got a picture of Blake enjoying the cold :)
After all this, we signed up for another race in August. My sister-in-law Aubrie, her husband Andrew, Wes and I signed up for The Holy War Relay on August 27th. I guess I have to keep running!

Our Weekend

We had such a fun weekend of just playing and spending time together. Friday night we were invited to go with our friends to a free carnival/BBQ that the college was putting on. We had some dinner and played for a little bit. Nathan was able to go down one of those huge inflatable slides but Wes had to help him climb up.

Saturday was so fun! I started the day with a little run in the morning with a friend. It was a great way to start the day. Then we had an Easter Egg hunt at 10:00 at SkyWest. The kids had so much fun finding the eggs in their cute new Easter baskets. (Nathan's was an airplane and Blake's was a firetruck)
I think Nathan had more fun playing with the airplane, making it take off and land, then finding the eggs.

Then after lunch and naps we headed over to the kite festival. The kids had just gotten a kite from their uncle Brandon so this was the perfect chance to go fly it. At one point Nathan was flying it all by himself. He LOVED it. We will definitely have to fly kites again.

They had a cute little train for the kids to ride so we did a quick little trip on that too. Nathan said he loved it but I'm not sure if Blake did. It was a little bumpy.
It got pretty hot so we came home and had lots of otter pops :)
We ended the day with a fabulous dinner of Tuscan Garlic Chicken. A new recipe I found on my favorite recipe blog. It turned out really good and even better, only took about 20 minutes to make. Such a fun weekend!

JumpStart Music Lessons

Okay so I've been working on a blog for my music preschool. It's in the rough draft stage but I thought I would put the link on here to see what you think.

So what do you think? Any ideas, suggestions, thoughts?

*It's obviously missing some information in spots but like I said...rough draft stage.

What we've been up to...

This is going to be one of those posts where I just post a bunch of random pictures from the last few weeks of things we have been doing. I've gotten a little behind so.....
Here is what we have been up to.

About a month or so ago Blake had his first haircut! His hair was getting so long so Wes cut it for him. His hair had grown so uneven. The top was very long but the sides were still pretty short. It was pretty funny looking, but now he looks great!

And it looks like he is going to have some of my curls just like his brother! It's not quite as curly as Nathan's but his hair is a lot thinner. I think as it grows more, it will get more curly!A few weeks ago we went bowling as a family. Nathan had so much fun he still asks us almost every day if we can go bowling again. It was a little crazy going bowling with the boys. At one point Nathan's ball got stuck half way down the lane and he just ran down the lane to get it! Wes had to chase after him...I wish I would've gotten a picture of that but I was too busy chasing after Blake. Here are a few pictures that we did get. As crazy as it was, it was so fun to see how much the boys enjoyed it.
Last Sunday morning Wes was sitting on the couch with a blanket and the boys just got up with him and snuggled under the blanket (Blake has recently learned to climb up on the couch by him self!) I thought it was so cute seeing all my boys snuggling on the couch together so I took a picture :)

This last week I bought the boys a new toy. A play BBQ grill. They LOVE it. It's so fun to see them play with it. The other night Wes went out to BBQ and Nathan was right there next to him making his (plastic) hot dogs on his own grill. It was so cute!

I saw this idea in a magazine to make a car out of a cardboard box. We have several from all the Costco diapers we buy and the box from the BBQ so today we made a car and an airplane out of some boxes. The boys LOVE them! I don't know which they love more now, the BBQ or the box it came in!
